Busy holiday season

It's been a busy few weeks for Nate and I with the holidays. Nate's cousin Steph got married in Hollandale 2 1/2 weeks ago so we traveled to southern MN for the day to help her celebrate her and Jason's big day. It was a beautiful wedding and it was nice to be able to gather together with family for such a special occasion. The picture below was taken at the church that day...doesn't Nate look nice in his suit?!?

The following Sunday we got together with Bob, Mo, and Wes for Christmas, which started out the week long celebration of Christmas. Nate and I had our little Christmas on Tuesday night, as we were both able to get off work early Wednesday to beat the majority of the bad weather to IA to celebrate Christmas with my family. We made the 5 hour drive in 6 1/2 hours before safely arriving at my parent's house for the weekend. From there, we had a Christmas celebration Friday, Sat, and Sunday. Needless to say, we were exhausted and ready to come home on Sunday.
I had a Dr's appt. on Monday morning and was glad to see that I didn't have another record setting weight gain. My Dr. measured my belly and said that I am right on, and if anything the baby may be a bit big. He is guessing it's around 4 lbs. He also said that it's in the perfect position right now. I'm not sure how long it will stay there, as the baby continues to be VERY active. I am now 32 weeks a long. I feel like I've been pregnant forever, but also can't believe that the baby will be here in 8 weeks. Oh how our life is going to change, but we are so excited to finally to meet this little guy or girl!

I hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas. Have a happy and safe New Years!

Oh Christmas Tree

Time has been flying by, and I'm assuming it will continue to do the same as the new year quickly approaches. Thanksgiving came and went quickly. I had to work during the day, but was able to join Nate and the rest of the Veldman clan after I got off. It was nice to see everybody, and we are looking forward to gathering together again in a couple of weeks for Steph and Jason's wedding.
My parents came up to visit this weekend. It was nice to see them and we appreciated them making the trip, as we know how long the drive can get and how precious the weekends are especially around the holidays. It was a pretty low key weekend. We did some shopping, played a lot of cards (which my mom and I beat Nate and my dad every time), had dinner with Nate's parents, and were able to go and get a Christmas tree. We opted out of going to the tree farm and cutting our own down this year. We went to a lot, found our beautiful crooked tree, and were home in just over an hour. It sure beat the long drive and numb appendages that I experienced last year when tree shopping. Below is a picture of my parents and us before they left this morning.
Things with the baby are good. I had my Dr's appointment on the 23rd and was very happy to pass my glucose test with flying colors. I celebrated by going out with the girls for some Cafe Latte cheesecake. :) The baby has been extremely active, which gives me peace of mind. I'm hoping that he/she is growing well because my stomach seems to be growing quite rapidly. I can't imagine that my abdomen can continue to grow this rapidly for another 11-12 weeks. I guess time will tell.
I hope that this finds you all well and staying warm. I hear we're supposed to get our first big snowstorm this week. Oh how I hate winter driving!!! Well I'm off to wrap some more presents. I hope that you're all enjoying these weeks of preparation for Christmas!

What a difference 18 weeks makes

8 Weeks

Almost 26 Weeks

There you go, a belly picture. I feel like it has doubled in size the past week. The "cute" factor is already wearing off, and I think that I may have to invest in a pair of suspenders to keep my scrub pants up at work. I put on a pj top last night and it hardly hit my belly button. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. That is until Nate started singing "fat guy in a little coat" and I couldn't help but laugh. I have my next Dr's appt. next week and will be doing the glucose testing. I'm praying that goes well. I can't imagine growing a big belly but not being able to eat bread and chocolate while doing so!

Nothing else new to report. Nate and I had a good weekend that went by to quickly. We went to the gopher game on Sat., and then to a high school musical in Hudson (Beauty and the Beast) on Sunday. Nate is heading to IA this upcoming weekend with his buddies for the IA/Gopher game, I'll be here working.

I hope this finds you all doing well and getting ready for the upcoming holidays!

The weekend

What a beautiful weekend it was weather wise. Lisa, Brent, and Reece came up to visit for the weekend. It was so nice to see them and get to spend a little time with them, the time went by way to quickly. Brent and Nate went to the Gopher game while Lisa, Reece, and I went and registered for baby gifts at Target and Babies R Us. Who knew that we would have to register for so much stuff?!? It was nice to get that done, and nice to have Lisa along to tell us what has worked best for her in the past. We also headed to Albertville and got a lot of shopping done for the kids' Christmas gifts.
They left this afternoon and the house seems so quiet not hearing Reece chatting and giggling. If it were up to Nate I think that he would have our baby be born at the age of 19 months. He loved having Reece here for the weekend. However, he is exhausted and has been asleep on the couch since 7:30. :) So thank you Lisa, Brent, and Reece for making the road trip up here, we always enjoy the time that we get to spend with you..we just wish it weren't such a long road trip!

Nursery in progress

As you all know, Nate and I are expecting in February. I figured that I would start a blog once the baby was born, but have decided to do it a bit earlier since people are asking for updates and pictures. Hopefully this blog will keep all of our family and friends that are so far away updated on what's going on with our lives and the exciting new changes taking place.

As most of you know, we have decided not to find out the sex of the baby. We feel like there are very few surprises left in life and thought it would be fun to let this be one of them. Besides that, I'm thinking that it may give me more motivation to push this little bundle of joy out when I feel like I can't push anymore. :) We've had multiple ultrasounds and everything looks great. We could see him/her sucking their thumb and then rubbing their eye like they were sleepy, it was very cute! Our last ultrasound was last week and the baby's estimated weight was 1.2 lbs. The heart rate has been holding steady at around 160 since our first appointment. Last month I started to feel the baby move every once in a while, now it's all the time. We have quite an active little one. Last week Nate was able to feel it for the first time...what a cool experience. The nausea is now gone for the most part, except for in the evenings some time. I still sleep all the time, but feel 150% better than I did from week 6-19!!!
We have been busy getting the nursery ready. I realize that it seems early, but you all know how I like to be prepared and have everything planned just so. I realize that this may not be the case after the baby is born! Bob came over last weekend and helped Nate finish up painting while Mo and I went and picked up two loads of furniture. Nate got the crib and glider assembled last night so everything is now in the nursery. Now we just need to decorate the walls. I'll post a picture of our "nursery in progress". I was just so excited to get the crib up and put the adorable bedding in it.

I think that's enough for now. I hope that you will enjoy our updates as you follow along on this journey that we are so excited about!!!
