Last weekend

Ava arrived home last Friday. She was home for about 30 minutes before we got back into the van and headed to the cabin with the Strittmatters. From what I hear, Ava had a great time with her Aunt, Uncle, & cousins in IA. Unfortunately, I think that she believes that we're going to leave her every time we go somewhere. She's been super clingy and crying when we drop her off at daycare. Hopefully this was only a week long thing!

After a couple of movies on the DVD player in the van, and a stop at Pizza Ranch for dinner on Friday night we finally made it to the cabin.  We could not have asked for better weather.  It was sunny and warm.  Ava had such a great time swimming in the lake.  Reece & Zack got to drive the boat which I believe was a highlight for them.  After dinner Saturday Ava went to bed while the rest of us went miniature golfing.  It would have been so much fun had we not had to race through the course since we were being eaten alive by the mosquitoes in spite of the fact that we took a bath in bug spray.  Being rushed made me lose to Nate by 1 stroke.  ;)

We had beautiful weather again on Sunday, but unfortunately had to be on the road shortly after noon since it's such a long drive back to De Soto.  We are very grateful that Lisa, Brent, Zack, & Reece were able to join us for the weekend (and took Ava earlier that week).  We're hoping that next year they can stay for a few more days and enjoy the lake even more.

We hope that you had a wonderful 4th of July.  Ours was pretty low key.  The temps have been hovering around 100 degrees all week so we've been spending our days inside.  I had to work a day shift on the 4th so Ava and Daddy hung out.  Nate grilled dinner that evening and I was asleep on the couch before most fireworks even started.

We hope that you're all staying cool.  Thanks for checking in and have a great weekend!

I've been saying that I'm going to post these for a month now.  I finally got them downloaded.

Reece & Ava packing up the stuff from our trip to Grandma Nene's beach
Snack time on the boat (Ava thinks that every time she steps foot on the pontoon she needs a snack, I'm not exaggerating either)
Aunt Lisa & Ava heading to the boat
Our captain Zackery

Uncle Brent & Reece

Waving hello from the nice warm water
She was all smiles while "swimming"
Eventually she said, "I need a nap". She laid down on the towel and was out in a matter of minutes. It's exhausting having so much fun!
